William Edward “Skip” Peterson, age 75, passed unexpectedly on June 26, 2024, at Marshfield Medical Center in Weston, WI.

He was born on April 28, 1949, in Eau Claire to William Sr. & Jane Peterson. Skip attended Eau Claire Memorial High School graduating with the Class of 1967. On February 7, 1968, Skip and Judy (Ellis) were married. Together they had two children; Tony (Julie) Peterson and Scott (Paula) Peterson.

Skip served in the U.S. Army for two years and worked for Uniroyal in Eau Claire until the plants closing. Skip and Judy owned and operated Peterson’s Resort on Cornell Lake for 17 years. In 2007 he retired from the bar business and the couple later moved to Holcombe in 2009. For 15 years he had enjoyed family, hunting, Packers, many rides on the 4-wheeler and side-by-side, and getting Judy lost and working their way home.

Skip is survived by his wife, Judy of 56 years; two sons, Tony (Julie) Peterson of Weyerhaeuser and Scott (Paula) Peterson of Bloomer. Also by grandchildren: Jesse (Jordi) Bellesbach, Brooklyn (Nathan) Longdo; step-grandchildren, Sarah (Grady) Stehr, Steven Bergman, Danielle (Lance) Greene, Dalton Hazelton, Dezi (Hunter) Anderson; and 10 great-grandchildren; and most of all his prized spoiled friend and companion, Molly, his cat. He is further survived by his sister-in-law, Debbie Ellis of Clear Lake, WI; four brothers, Jim (Diane) Peterson of Holcombe, Robert Peterson of Bloomer, Rick (Janelle) Peterson of Bloomer, and Dale (Renee) Peterson of Las Vegas.

Skip was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Evert (Madelyn) Ellis; brother-in-law, Steve Ellis; and sister-in-law, Beverly Peterson.

At Skip’s request no funeral services will be held. The family would like to thank everyone for their friendship, kindness and love. Skip will be loved & missed forever.

As is too often the case, I did not know Bill. However, once again, that does not diminish his passing from our class population. Again, we are reminded of the shortness and preciousness of life, all lives.  Godspeed, Bill. Rest in peace.

Haven't seen Bill since we graduated but remember going to Cleghorn School with him.  Sad to lose another classmate.

So sorry to hear of Bill's passing. My condolences to Bill's family. Bill and I were good friends from grade school though high school. I remember Bill as a happy kid with a smile. RIP Bill.

I knew Skip Peterson from Cleghorn through high school. We were neighbors on highway 93. We were good pals and did a lot together back in the day.. Condolences to the family. Rest in peace Skip.
