Former Resident Dies After Wounding Self
A 21 year old former Mondovi man shot and killed himself Sunday afternoon in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Altoona, according to the Altoona Police Chief.
The body of Gregory Sindelar, 21, of 402 Doty Street, Eau Claire, was found lying in the aisle near the rear of the church by sister Lois. She notified the pastor, the Reverend Norbert Wilger, and he called authorities.
Police Chief Larson said Sindelar shot himself in the heart with a single-shot .22 caliber pistol.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. at the Stokes and Son Funeral Chapel and at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, Altoona. The Reverend N. J. Wilger officiated and burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Eau Claire.
Surviving are his father, Emil W. Sindelar, Town of Washington; one brother, Michael J., Fall Creek; one sister, Sandra M. Madison and his grandfather, Steven C. Larson, Eau Claire.
