Jan Schroeder (Goldberg)

Jan K. (Schroeder) Goldberg, 69, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the Hospice Alliance Hospice House.

She was born on August 2, 1949 to the late James and Caroline (Grotte) Schroeder in Eau Claire, WI.  She was educated in the schools of Eau Claire and graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School in 1967.  Jan graduated from Gateway Technical College with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing.

She married Steven Goldberg on July 11, 1968.

Jan worked as an RN for St. Catherine’s Hospital, then at St. Luke’s and St. Mary’s Hospitals in Racine.  She worked in labor and delivery and the perinatal assessment center.  Jan taught in the skills lab at Gateway Technical College helping students to refine their nursing skills.  Jan developed close and personal relationships with many of her patients.

Jan was a member of  Beth Hillel Temple.

Jan enjoyed going to rummage sales, thrift stores, antiquing, sewing, embroidery and shopping with friends.  Jan loved being a nurse.  She was an outgoing and kind-hearted woman.

Jan is survived by her loving husband Steven, her children Matthew (Heather) Goldberg of Milwaukee and Libby Laura (Thomas) Johnson of Kenosha, her grandchildren Jordan, Xan and Barrett, her step grandchildren Faith, Elizabeth, Seth and Christian, her brother David Schroeder of Eau Claire, her sister Jeanne (Thomas) Bohlinger of Altoona, WI, her uncle Grant (Carol) Grotte and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service for Jan will be held on Monday, August 27th at 1:00 p.m. at Beth Hillel Temple (6050 – 8th Ave.).  Visitation will be held on Monday from 12:00 (Noon) p.m. at the Temple.  Inurnment will take place at Spring Hill Cemetery in Milwaukee.  In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Hospice Alliance or to Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin.

My heart hurts for Steve and their family. She was a wonderful friend and we had so many great times together. She was an amazing woman and I will miss her dearly. 

I know she and Steve moved but don't have theirr new address. IIf anyone has their new address please let me kmow.

I was so saddened to hear of Jan’s death. She was a friend in high school, but I haven’t kept up with her over the years. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
