Larry Larson

Larry Larson

Larry Michael Larson, age 69, passed away peacefully July 12, 2018, at home in Eau Claire under the care of Mayo Hospice.

Larry was born December 3, 1948 and raised in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

He graduated from Memorial High School in 1967 and he later graduated from Coleman Technical college in La Crosse, WI, with a diploma in Auto Body Repair. He married Linda Wahl in 1969 and to this union one son, Scott, was born. They later divorced.

Larry married Judy (Lee) Feb 14, 1997, at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, NV.

Larry worked at Wood Motor Co. and Trubilt Auto Body in Eau Claire. He then owned and operated Larson Auto Body in Eau Claire.

Larry and Judy lived in Florida for seven years where he owned and operated The Yankee Handyman and Classic Mobile Sand Blasting.

After moving back to Wisconsin he worked at Menard’s West and later retired from the Menard’s Fleet Division in 2013.

A true auto enthusiast Larry enjoyed building and restoring street rods and classic Corvettes, attending car shows and traveling to events across the US in his 1955 Chevy Nomad and 1938 Chevy Street Rod.

He was a founding member of River City Street Rods of Eau Claire and was also a past President.

When Larry wasn’t behind the wheel of his current hot rod or holding a spray gun, you could find him barbecuing steaks, hamburgers or boy-scout dinners (always using what seemed like a half gallon of gasoline to get the charcoal started!!).

Larry is survived by his wife Judy, son Scott, and his children Emily and Jacob of Eau Claire, WI. Brother Bob (Pam) of Cuba, MO, sister Marie Bennett of Hudson, WI. Step-daughters Tracy (Chris) Phillips of Cleghorn, WI and Stacey (Michael) Rasmussen of Eau Claire, WI and their children and grandchildren, and extended family and friends. Of equal importance is his 4-legged “daughter” Kitt who will miss her daddy.

Preceded in death by parents Ernest and Beryl (Mittelstadt) Larson and other extended family members.

At Larry’s request, he will be cremated. Chippewa Valley Cremation Services of Altoona, WI, is serving the family. To express condolences online, please visit, www.chippewavalleycremation.com.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 31st from 5 to 8pm at the VFW Post 7232, 2900 West Folsom Street, Eau Claire, WI.

My thought and prayers go out to his family.  It is always so sad to hear of another one of our classmates leaving us.
