Larry Johnson, age 57, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2007, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.

Larry was born October 24, 1949, in Eau Claire to Jeffie and Helen (Thoen) Johnson. He graduated from Memorial High School in 1967, and then attended UW-Eau Claire where he studied geology for two years, and later graduated from Chippewa Valley Technical College in welding.

Larry met his life partner, Sue Culbert; and the two of them lived together in the Eau Claire area for the next 27 years. Their son, Christopher Johnson, was born in 1980.

Larry enjoyed country and rock music, building and construction, bicycling, gardening, fishing, hunting and going up north to his friend's father's cottage. Sue, son Christopher, and friends were very important to Larry.

Larry is survived by Sue and son, Christopher; sisters, Judith Johnson of Eau Claire, and Elaine (Bill) Bethke of Monroe; and special cousin, Carol (Darrell) Kruger; in addition to nieces, Ericka (Mark) Short of Kenosha, Jennifer (Joe) Bochar and son Jack of Canyon Country, Calif., Emily (Dan) Gruenewald of Edgerton; and nephew, Branden (Jodie) Kruger and their daughters. He is also survived by many other special people — Laura, John, Nichole, Kathy, Diane, Gary, Janice, Roxy and Beth.

Larry is predeceased by Larry and Sue's infant twins, Lisa and Jason; his parents, Helen and Jeff Johnson; and his brother, Dennis Johnson.

Funeral Services will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2007, at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel in Altoona, WI. Friends may call two hours prior to the service. Interment will be private at a later date.
