Ronald R. Erickson, 24, of 521 Third St., Eau Claire was killed when a vehicle he was riding in struck a train Saturday evening.
He was a graduate of Memorial High School and a student at UW-Eau Claire. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his father, Romaine, mother, Mrs. Donald Wilson; three brothers, Danny, Robert, James; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Marchino, all of Eau Claire.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Chapel with Rev. E. G. Borreson officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.

Ron died with Steve Olson (our classmates) in a car/train accident, acouple years after graduation. Two others died with them, but I cannot relay their names with certainty. Steve had one son, who died just before age 20.
The shock was nearly impossible to bear for the families.

The other two mates in that chash with a trein were Dick Voss, who died a few days later.
The one survivor was Dave "jobber" Jopke. Good friends all. It Steve that gave me my nick name "Marty"
