Mary Alice Briggs, of Eau Claire, died May 25, at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home in Altoona.

She was born on August 8, 1949, and attended Eau Claire public schools and Colorado Women’s College, (then named Temple Buell).

She worked as a dental assistant and in a number of different food service jobs, but horses were her first love. She spent her happiest years in Eau Claire as a stable manager and riding instructor. 

Predeceased by her parents, George and Doris Briggs; and her former husband, James Hogstrom, M.D.

She is survived by their son, Erik and his wife, Grey Tanzi; her sisters, Barbara Root of Plymouth, Minnesota, Susan Wright of Houston, and Dorothy Arnold of Farmington, Utah; their husbands and children. 

In accordance with her wishes, Mary Alice was honored at a private gathering of her closest friends and immediate family.
